Warehouse signage has to survive forklift traffic, wash-downs and years of use, and much of it is regulated. These are the categories that actually get ordered.

Safety and compliance

AS 1319 is the Australian Standard governing workplace safety signs, and it is stricter than most people realise. The colour and shape carry meaning:

• Danger — white on a red oval. Reserved for a hazard that will kill or seriously injure.
• Warning — yellow triangle. A hazard that could injure.
• Mandatory — blue circle. PPE and required actions.
• Prohibition — red circle and slash.
• Emergency — green. Exits, first aid, assembly points.

Using a danger sign where a warning sign belongs is a genuine compliance problem, not a styling choice.

Wayfinding and operations

Bay and aisle numbering, dock and door identification, shipping and receiving, speed limits, pedestrian walkway markers, maximum occupancy and loading limits.

Materials
